Polygamy is the act of having one more wives at the same time.
Polygamy is mainly legal in Muslim or African countries however in the UK the act of marrying someone else whilst already married is called bigamy and is punishable to seven years of imprisonment.
The legality of polygamy may vary between cultures because of religion. Such as in Islam men can take up to 4 wives as this was in holy texts. Additionally, up to 1980s Mormanism encouraged polygamy however, became illegal where some fundamentalist Mormon groups would still illegal practice this.
How can laws change from culture to culture in homosexuality and why does the legality of homosexuality vary between cultures?
In a number of countries this is considered legal such as the United state of America and the United Kingdom however, in several Muslims countries this is illegal. The promotion of homosexuality is also illegal in Russia.
The legality of homosexuality between cultures mainly because of religions. Many religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism have traditionally condemned homosexuality and therefore, countries with strong religious influence may make such an official law.
