Musculoskeletal System

Osteogenesis
The process of bone formation.
Osteoblasts
Cells that build up bone.
Osteoclasts
Cells that break down bone.
Bone Healing
A biological process involving the stages of fracture and inflammatory phase, granulation tissue formation, callus formation, lamellar bone deposition, and remodeling.
RICE
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation - a method used for treating acute injuries.
Compartment Syndrome
A condition in which increased pressure within a muscle compartment reduces blood flow, resulting in muscle and nerve damage.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A condition caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the wrist at the carpal tunnel.
Erythema
Redness of the skin caused by increased blood flow to the capillaries.
Osteoporosis
A condition characterized by a decrease in bone density, leading to an increased risk of fracture.
Cushing's Triad
A clinical syndrome characterized by hypertension, bradycardia, and irregular respiration, indicative of increased intracranial pressure.
Neuromuscular Injury
Injury that affects the nervous and muscular systems, potentially involving pain, weakness, and impaired movements.
DVT
Deep Vein Thrombosis, a condition where blood clots form in deep veins, usually in the legs.
Gout
A form of inflammatory arthritis characterized by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints.
Avascular Necrosis
Bone tissue death caused by a lack of blood supply.
