Homogenous stress distribution

Occurs when the stress is the same at every point across the loaded cross-section of a material

A measure of the angular deformation of a material when it is subject to a shear force

Ductile material

A material that can undergo significant plastic deformation before fracture

Brittle material

A material that fractures with very little plastic deformation
