Long Bones
Bones that have a bulbous end and a shaft in the middle; examples include the femur and humerus.
Short Bones
Cube-shaped bones that are not considered long bones, such as those in the wrist.
Flat Bones
Bones that are flat in nature such as the bones of the skull and sternum.
Irregular Bones
Bones that do not fit into the other categories, such as vertebrae and some bones in the face.
Sesamoid Bones
Small, round bones found in tendons that provide mechanical advantages.
Bursa
A sac filled with fluid that helps reduce friction between bones and muscle tissue.
Pelvic Girdle
The structure that supports the spine, distributes body weight, and connects the lower limbs to the trunk.
Thoracic Cage
The protective structure that houses the heart and lungs, made up of ribs and sternum.
Skeletal System
The framework of bones and cartilage that supports and protects the body.
Musculoskeletal System
The combination of muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and other connective tissues.
