Oestrogen

• Produced in the ovaries

• Promotes the thickening of the uterus lining

• Triggers the pituitary gland to release LH

• Inhibits the release of FSH

Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)

• Released by the pituitary gland

• Causes the egg to mature in the ovary

Lutenising hormone (LH)

• Produced by the pituitary gland

• Causes egg to be released by ovary

Progesterone

• Produced by the ovary

• Maintains the lining of the womb
