imprinting
a specific type of attachment where an animal, typically a bird, forms a strong bond with the first moving object it sees after hatching.
Lorenz procedure
goose eggs were split into 2- half hatched in an incubator with lorenz and the other half hatched with biological mother
lorenz findings
when the gosling hatched with lorenz they imprinted with him and when mixed with the other goslings they both went to there own parent
lorenz also found that they have a 32h critical period to imprint and if they dont they will never be able to imprint
Harlow aim and procedure
tested the thoery of cupboard love-love due to being fed
infant monkeys were placed into cages with a wire monkey with food and a cloth monkey

later research found that the meternal deperivation led to permentant social disorders
Eval
