Surveyor
A professional charged with providing measurements and representing land, including three-dimensional objects and trajectories.
Geodetic Surveying
A type of surveying that considers the curved surface of the Earth and involves computations on an ellipsoid to determine relative positions.
Plane Surveying
A type of surveying that assumes a flat horizontal surface for fieldwork and computations, except in leveling.
Total Station
An electronic instrument used in surveying to measure distances and angles, allowing for accurate data collection.
GNSS
Global Navigation Satellite Systems, technologies used for precise positioning and navigation in surveying.
Photogrammetry
The technique of acquiring measurements from photographic images for surveying purposes.
Hydrographic Surveying
Surveying performed in a marine environment to map coastlines and seabeds for navigational charts.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Computer-based systems that allow for the storage and integration of spatial information with various types of data.
Remote Sensing
A method of collecting information about the Earth's surface without direct contact, typically using aerial imagery.
