Incomplete dominance
Neither allele for a trait is completely dominant or recessive, causing a blended phenotype e.g red and white makes pink
Homozygous
If an individual has two alleles for a gene they’re homozygous
Heterozygous
If an individual has two different alleles for a gene they’re heterozygous
Dominant allele
Expressed in the phenotype even when one allele is present
Recessive allele
Only expressed in the phenotype if two copies are present
Genotype
And organisms genetic makeup specifically the combination of alleles
Phenotype
Physical observable trait that results from the genotype
Gene
A specific sequence of DNA based which codes for a sequence of amino acids in a polypeptide chain
Allele
Specific version of a gene
Loci point
The specific location of a gene on a chromosome
Chromosome
A pair of chromosomes that carry the same genes but may have different version of those genes
