What is a compound?
A substance made up of 2 or more types of atom chemically bonded.
What does making bonds involve?
Giving away, taking or sharing electrons.
What happens when elements react?
Atoms join other atoms to make at least one new substance.
Are the properties of a compound the same as those of the original elements?
No, they are usually completely different.
How are compounds represented?
In formulae with the symbols of each atom and the quantities of them, e.g. CO2 contains 1 carbon atom and 2 oxygen atoms.
