IT Strategy
Procedures/Plans regarding how digital data is stored, maintained, and used within a company; comprises four core components: Storing/Retrieving Data, Analyzing Data, Automation, and Data Security.
Storing and Retrieving Data
The component of IT strategy focused on saving data to storage (in-house or cloud) and retrieving it when needed.
In-House Storage
On-site data storage infrastructure owned by the organization.
Cloud Storage
External storage services accessed over the internet, hosted by third-party providers.
Analyzing Data
Examining data to determine how it can improve workflow and increase revenue.
Automation
Automating internal processes to speed up operations, such as vendor-to-buyer workflows.
Data Security
Protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
Data Network Communication (DNC)
The system or process that enables data networks to transmit and exchange data between devices.
Data Networks
Systems that transmit data between computers, support faster communications, and facilitate messaging (email, text, video).
Client
A network-connected device that consumes services from servers; any device on the network.
Server
A powerful computer that provides data and services to clients on a network; can be specialized for tasks like storage, printing, or email.
Peer-to-Peer Network
A network where data is transmitted directly between peers without a central server.
Local Area Network (LAN)
A network that covers a small geographic area (e.g., a building) and includes common components such as client computers, switches, routers, servers, and printers.
Wireless Access Point (WAP)
A device that enables wireless devices to connect to a wired network.
Switch
A network device that connects devices within a LAN, usually wired, and forwards data to the correct destination.
Router
A device that connects different networks and routes data between them, often providing wireless connectivity.
CPU
Central Processing Unit; the main processing component of a computer.
Motherboard
The primary circuit board that houses the CPU and other essential components.
NOS (Network Operating System)
An operating system designed to manage network resources and devices.
Wires/Cables
Physical media that carry electrical signals to connect networked devices.
