Theology of the Body
A series of scriptural reflections about human dignity and sexuality made by Pope John Paul II.
Theology
Theo means God, and Logos means the Study of. It is the study of God.
Human Dignity
The reality that we are created in the image and likeness of God.
Original Man
The state of man before the fall.
Historical Man
The state of man after the fall until the return of Christ.
Eschatological Man
The state of man after the return of Christ, where body and soul are united as one.
Original Sin
The sin made by Adam and Eve, which caused separation from God's grace, leading to disorder and concupiscence (inclination to sin).
Theological Virtues
Faith, Hope, and Love, as stated by St. Paul.
Celibate Life
A choice to forego marriage to fulfill the mission of Christ and the Church.
Vocations in Life
1. Starting a family.
2. Joining a religious congregation.
3. Single-blessedness.
Humanae Vitae
A teaching of the Church regarding birth control.
Communion of Persons
Pope John Paul II's affirmation that no person lives in isolation; we are united in love that is free, faithful, total, and fruitful.
Social Nature of Humans

Definition of Love (St. Thomas Aquinas)
Love is willing the good of another person without expecting anything in return.
Lust
A distortion of the heart, a corruption of the body and actions, treating people as objects rather than respecting their dignity and responsibilities.
