Psoas Minor
Assists flexion of lumbar spine and posterior pelvic tilt.
Psoas Major
Bilaterally flexes hip; when hip is flexed, it extends lumbar spine; when hip is extended, it flexes lumbar spine; unilaterally causes lateral flexion; helps with external rotation when hip is abducted.
Iliacus
Hip flexion; helps with external rotation when hip is abducted.
Pectineus
Adducts, medially rotates, flexes and extends hip depending on position of leg.
Sartorius
Flexes, abducts, and laterally rotates hip; flexes and internally rotates knee.
Adductor Brevis
Adducts, internally rotates, flexes and extends hip depending on position of leg.
Adductor Longus
Adducts, internally rotates, flexes and extends hip depending on position of leg.
Gracilis
Adducts, internally rotates, flexes and extends hip depending on position; internally rotates the knee.
Obturator Externus
External rotation and adduction.
Adductor Magnus
Adducts, internally rotates, flexes and extends hip depending on position of leg.
Gluteus Medius
Abduction; anterior fibers flex and internally rotate, posterior fibers extend and laterally rotate.
Gluteus Minimus
Abducts the hip; upper fibers flex and medially rotate the hip; lower fibers extend and laterally rotate the hip.
Gluteus Maximus
Extends, laterally rotates, and adducts/abducts depending on fibers.
Tensor Fascia Latae
Flexes, abducts, and internally rotates.
Piriformis
External rotation and abduction; when hip is flexed, it internally rotates.
Gemellus Superior
Externally rotates.
Obturator Internus
Externally rotates.
Gemellus Inferior
Externally rotates.
Quadratus Femoris
Externally rotates and adducts.
Biceps Femoris (long head)
Extends hip and flexes knee; laterally rotates knee.
Biceps Femoris (short head)
Flexes knee.
Semitendinosus
Extends hip, flexes and medially rotates knee.
Semimembranosus
Extends hip, flexes and medially rotates knee.

Fibularis Longus
Plantarflexion and eversion.
Gastrocnemius
Knee flexion, plantarflexion, helps supinate; extends knee in closed chain.
