It is used to appeal to the reader’s emotions and create a connection between the reader and the characters

Didacticism (Didactic language)

When the main purpose of a text is to teach the reader a moral lesson

builds tension by creating a silence and encourages deeper engagement from the reader who must consider the meaning of the ellipsis

Political diatribe

Text written to criticise a political belief or system

causes deeper thought from the reader about the topic at hand and causes them to scrutinise their actions

Plosives

Repetition of harsh sound (letters) (f,s,k,t,d,b,g)

helps convey complex emotions like anger

Consonance

Repetition of a similar consonant (frank felt funny)

creates rhythm/ makes the text more pleasing to the ear
