Cell Membrane
cells are enclosed inside; controls the movement of materials into and out of the cell
Nucleous
the storehouse for most of the DNA in your cell; consists of chromatin, a nucleolus, and a membeane
Nucleolus
where ribosomes are made; the center of a nucleous
Endoplasmic Reticulum
rough - has ribosomes and makes proteins : smooth - doesn’t have ribosomes and breaks down toxins + drugs
Golgi Appararus
modified and packages proteins, proteins have to be packaged for shipment
Mitochondria
converts molecules from the food you eat into ATP (ETC and Krebs Cycle)
Cell Wall
a rigid layer that gives protection, support, and shape to the cell; only in plants and algae
Chloroplast
converts solar energy to chemical energy (makes plant food)
Vacuole
a fluid-filled sac used for the storage of materials needed by a cell
Cytoplasm
fluid of the cells; where glycolysis occurs
Lysosomes
breaks down worn-out/unnecessary parts if the cell; acts like the digestive system of the cell
Ribosomes
build proteins
Cilia
receives signals from nearby cells and acts as antennas for the cells, allowing for small movements
Flagella
assists in larger movement from one location to another
