What is an ionic bond

chemical bond formed through attraction between oppositely charged ions, typically resulting from the transfer of electrons from one atom to another

crystal lattice attract other ions like it to make up a structure

Properties of ionic bond

difficult to operate the ions —> high melting and boiling points

in water the molecules will separate the ions

Covalent bond

Shares electrons between non metals (no strong connection so its easy to separate them, low melting and boiling points)

not made of ions so they cannot conduct electricity
