Name four parts of the “Cortex”, stemming from telencephalon
Frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, temporal lobe
How does the Frontal Lobe allow us to interact with the world?
planning, decision-making, personality, risk analysis, contributes to stress response. primary motor cortex which is involved in voluntary movement.
How does the Temporal Lobe allow us to interact with the world?
Hearing and Olfactory perception, also hearing association cortex. primary auditory cortex which has a map of the cochlea, tomatopic map.
How does the Parietal Lobe allow us to interact with the world?
Contains the primary somatosensory cortex, allows us to perceive general sensations like touch, temp, pressure, and pain.
How does the Occipital Lobe allow us to interact with the world?
Primary visual cortex and visual association cortex, perception and association of visual information. Contains map of the retina (retinotopic map)
How does the Nucleus Accumbens allow us to interact with the world?
part of the brain’s reward system, processing reward motivation and reinforcement (motivation and access). NAc is at the end of DA pathways that are linked to substance abuse, excessive reward from drugs leads to addictive actions and more drug intake despite the harm of them.
