Describe Static Electricity/How static charges form
Electric Charges that can be collected and held in once place, imbalance of number of protons: number of electrons on a surface material
How does friction make neutral objects charged?
Friction causes electrons to be transferred from one material to another, creating a charge imbalance (some materials lose electrons, some gain)
Conductors
Materials that allows electrons to easily move around (e.g metal, copper, aluminium)
Insulators
Materials that don’t allow electrons to move around easily (e.g wood, rubber, glass, plastic)
Triboelectric series
Chart, higher up/positive loses electrons because electrons are attracted to the other electrons lower down/negative on the chart
