Vulva
The external female reproductive structures
Mons pubis
Pad of fat located at the anterior, over the pubic bone. Usually covered in pubic hair.
Labia majora
Folds of hair-covered skin that begin posterior to mons pubis.
Labia minora
Thinner and more pigmented than labia majora, extend medial to them. Minora serves to protect the female urethra and entrance to female reproductive tract.

Clitoris
Superior and anterior portions of labia minora encircle clitoris. This organ originates from the same cells as the glans penis and has abundant nerves for sexual sensation and orgasm.

Hymen
Thin membrane that sometimes covers entrance to vagina. Only a partial membrane because secretions must exit the body.
Vaginal opening
Located between urethra and anus. Flanked by outlets to Bartholin’s glands

Vagina
Muscular canal that serves as the entrance to the reproductive tract. Serves as exit from uterus during menses and childbirth.
Outer walls of anterior and posterior vagina (fonix)
