Tundra (noun)
A cold, flat area where the ground is frozen most of the time and only certain plants and animals can live.
Bristle (verb)
To stand up or stick out, like the stiff hairs on an animal's fur when it is upset or scared.
Improvise (verb)
To come up with a solution to a problem using whatever you have available, without planning ahead.
Tension (noun)
A feeling of nervousness or stress, often because of a difficult situation.
Exhilaration (noun)
A feeling of excitement and joy, often after doing something difficult or challenging.
Sporadic (adj.)
Not happening at a set time or schedule; unpredictable.
Tremor (noun)
A small, shaking movement caused by the cold, fear, or being nervous.
Bitter (adj.)
A strong, unpleasant taste, or a feeling of anger or being hurt.
Futile (adj.)
Something that is pointless or will not succeed, no matter how hard you try.
Cower (verb)
To curl up in fear, trying to protect yourself.
Sullen (adj.)
In a bad-tempered mood, where a person is quiet but unhappy.
Frantic (adj.)
Extremely worried or nervous, often doing things quickly and with lots of energy.
Searing (adj.)
Very hot or intense, like something burning or extremely painful.
Taut (adj.)
Stretched tight, like a rope or string pulled tight.
Flustered (adj.)
Confused, nervous, or embarrassed-making it hard to think clearly.
Linger (verb)
To stay in one place longer than expected or to move slowly because you don't want to leave.
