“Jim Crow” laws -
state and local - were enforced in the southern United states in the late 19th to mid 20th centuries forcing racial segregation and discrimination against African american and it was overturned when the civil right act of 1964 and voting right act of 1965.
filibuster -
An attempt to kill a bill by having a group of senators take turns speaking continuously so that a vote cannot take place.
poll taxes -
poll taxes were used to prevent african america to vote were they made them pay to vote and due to the different levels of poverty it mostly affected african americans from voting and was outlawed during the 24 amendment.

Prejudice or discrimination against someone because of his or her race.very promist during the civil rights movement when they could vote or share the sames places as whites.
