Glassing

It is a supercalendered greaseproof paper

Use steam heat when calendering: collapses fibers and increase Hbonding

Smooth, semi-transparent surface

It is resistant to the passage of air and essential oil vapor

Parchment Paper

Paper is treated with sulfuric acid: partially dissolve cellulose

Fibers swell, extensive hydrogen bonding, pores are plugged

This type of paper is stronger when wet than dry

Has a chemical neutral fiber-free surface

used to package butter
