Responsible for strong pain relief - P for “pain!” … neurotransmitter version of adrenaline ⇢ “flight or fight”

N - Norepinephrine

Excitatory neurotransmitter - most common of this kind

A - ACh / Acetylcholine

Responsible for memory, learning, & movement - a decrease in its release is associated with Alzheimers

G - GABA / gamma-aminobutyric acid

Inhibitory response; calm. Most involved in relaxation as well as sleep

G - Glutamate

Responisble for memory and learning (sim. to ACh), however it is more abundant

E - Endorphins

Associated with euphoria but also provides pain relief (however it is much less)

D - Dopamine

Pleasure, arousal, however too much is associated with schizophrenia and too little with Parkinson’s
