Limiting Reactant
The reactant that is completely consumed during a reaction, determining the extent of the reaction.
Excess Reactant
A reactant that remains after the reaction has completed.
Theoretical Yield
The amount of product predicted by stoichiometry.
Actual Yield
The amount of product actually formed in a reaction.
% Yield
A measure of the efficiency of a reaction calculated as (Actual yield / Theoretical yield) x 100.
Reaction Stoichiometry
The calculation of reactants and products in chemical reactions, based on balanced equations.
Mole Ratio
The ratio of moles of one substance to the moles of another substance in a balanced chemical reaction.
Balanced Equation
An equation in which the number of atoms for each element is the same on both sides.
Product Formation
The amount of product produced in a chemical reaction based on the limiting reactant.
Gravimetric Analysis
A method to determine the amount of a substance by mass in a chemical reaction.
