Neutrality Acts of 1935, 1936, 1937

 these were designed to keep the US neutral in the event of a conflict. It said that no American citizen could sail on the ships of belligerent nations, outlawed arms sales, no loans to nations at war, the US could not help out even if a country was the innocent victim of aggression. The sentiment of the United States was to ensure neutrality at all costs. The Policy of Appeasement backfires
