ICT (stands for?)
Information and Communications Technology
ICT (what?)
The use of technology such as computers, network, internet and phones to share, store, collect and process information. It is also used to communicate and manage information.
OS
Operating system - main software that controls the computer. It manages the hardware and some other software and lets you interact with the computer.
Software
Set of instructions or program that tells your computer on what to do. These are the things that you can’t physically touch in your computer (games, apps, files)
Hardware
These are the things that you can physically touch in your computer. (Motherboard, keyboard, mouse, monitor) Equipment that collaborate with the software so that computer will function
I/O
Communication between computer system and the outside world. It is how a computer receive information (input) and gives out result (output).
LAN
Local Area Network - Network that connects computer and devices within small are (home, office, room) Allows computer and device to share data and resources easily.
WAN
Wide Area Network - Network that connects computer and devices over a wide or big geographic area (between cities, countries and worldwide)
USB
Universal Serial Bus - transfer files or data between devices
(Type A, Type B, Type C, USB Micro, USB MicroB, USB Mini, USB 3.0)
WWW
World Wide Web - a system of linked web pages that you can access with the use of internet and web browser. View online article, video, images and the likes.
URL
Uniform Resource Locator - is a web address that you type in your browser to find and visit specific website or pages.
IP
Internet protocol - set of rules that governs how data travel across the internet and other network
Internet Protocol Address - unique number assigned to every devices connected to the internet or network
DNS
Domain Name System - Internet’s Phonebook. It translates easy-to-remember website names into numerical IP addresses

Convergence
The coming together of different technological devices, tools or system and perform work as one
5G Technology
5th generation Technology that is latest, advanced and fast
Cloud Computing
Using the internet to store and access files, apps, photos and videos instead of keeping it in your own computer’s hard drive or your phone
Remote work and collaboration Tools
Remote work: Work arrangement where employees do their own job without being in the traditional office
Collaboration Tools: Apps that helps people share information, work together as one, regardless of their physical location
IoT
Internet of thing - system of connected devices (smartphone etc.,) that collect and share data over the internet.
Everyday devices connected to the internet that share, send, receive information
Biometrics
The use of the unique physical or behavioral feature of a person to identify them. Usually used for identity check and security.
AR and VR
AR (Augmented reality) - adding of images or information on top of the real world. Enhances what you see but does not change the entirety of what you see
VR (Virtual reality) - using of headsets to be fully immersed to computer generated environment and replace the real world
AI and ML
AI (Artificial Intelligence) - when machine try to learn, think and decide like humans.
ML (Machine Learning) - branch of AI when machine try to learn from data and improve over time without being programmed on what exactly to do.
Wearable Technology
Wearable electronic devices that helps you interact with the digital world
Web 1.0
Web that has read-only content and no interaction with human
Web 2.0
There is interaction between human and machine — share, create and communicate
Web 3.0
There is AI. Machine try to understand and process like human
Web 4.0
Fully integrated AI and real time communication between machine and human
Web 5.0
Aims to make machine understand human emotions and respond with empathy
Netiquette
Remember the human on the other side of the electronic communication
Adhere the same standard of behavior online that you follow in real life
Know where you are in cyberspace
Respect other people’s time and bandwidth
Make yourself look good online
Share expert knowledge
Keep flame wars under control
Respect other people’s privacy
Don’t abuse your power
Be forgiving of other people’s mistakes
Disinformation
false and intends to cause harm
Misinformation
false but not deliberately created to harm
Mal-information
based on reality but used to inflict harm
