Cultural Globalization
The circulation and sharing of ideas, meanings, and values across cultures, increasing social contacts.
Cultural Capital
According to Pierre Bourdieu, cultural capital is acquired from one’s socioeconomic background and formal education, influencing one's position in social hierarchies.
High Culture
The dominant elitist form of culture, often associated with literature and fine arts, shared by a minority with the highest socioeconomic power.
Low Culture
Ways of life shared by the majority of people of all social backgrounds, including popular music, cuisine, and festive traditions.
Intersectionality
A concept coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw to describe the interplay between power, culture, class, ethnicity, and gender.
Glocalization
A term describing the processes through which globalization interacts with local cultures, leading to cultural hybridization.
Deterritorialization of Culture
The phenomenon where cultural expressions move outside their original national contexts to new environments.
Mass Culture
Behavior, ideas, and values produced through common exposure to the same media.
Linguasphere
The global web of cultural and linguistic diversity, where multilingualism is the dominant feature.
Cultural Hybridity
The blend of cultural elements from different sources resulting in new cultural expressions.
