What is patriarchy?

A male dominated society. Men have power and control over women in various social institutions (family, education, crime etc)

What is gender discrimination?

Treating people differently and unfavourably based on their gender e.g. gender pay gap is about 15%.

What is the glass ceiling?

An invisible barrier preventing women from from reaching the top positions in society.

What is the male gaze?

The idea that most media is produced by men and content is shown ‘through the eyes’ of a man.

What is a crisis of masculinity?

The idea that men no longer have an established identity or ‘purpose’ in society, like they may have done in the past.
