George Washington
First President of the United States, led the country during the American Revolutionary War, and is often called the "Father of His Country." He served two terms from 1789 to 1797.
John Adams
Second President of the United States, a Founding Father, and key figure in the American Revolution. He served one term from 1797 to 1801 and was the first president to live in the White House. Almost started a war with France.
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States, powerful and the face of “Jeffersonian" democratic-republicanism. He was the author of the declaration of independence and doubled the size of the United States with the Louisiana purchase. Served two terms.
James Madison
Fourth United States President, author of the bill of rights, shaped the Checks and balances system. Lead the United States during the war of 1812. Primary Author of the federalists papers.
James Monroe
Fifth United States President, ushered in the “Era of Good Feelings.” Last founding father, he was very big on westward expansion. He also signed the Missouri compromise. served two terms.
John Quincy Adams
Sixth United States President, author of the Monroe Doctrine.
