It is unclear how advanced Mycenaean travel or their roads were (but it is likely that they were not very good quality), so travellers faced the mountainous terrain, as well as the threat of being ambushed by bandits or wild animals, and the small size of chariots didn’t encourage trade by land as not many goods would be able to be brought per chariot
