Every ritual has a purpose and the purpose is the petition. The petition might simply be to wroship or give back energy. Be sure that you want what you ask for

Sacrifice

Fire / Will - Energy

This is the giving of something in return for the petition (exchange). This keeps the balance for most of us the major sacrifice of ritual is energy. Energy is raised and given away.
