Primary Maxillary Central Incisor
-Eruption: 10 (8-12 months)
-Shedding Range: 6-7 years
-constricts more at CEJ than the permanent
-lingual surface has defined anatomy
-mesial and distal outlines more rounded
-wider mesiodistally than incisocervically
Primary Maxillary Lateral Incisor
-Eruption: 11 (9-13 months)
-Shedding Range: 7-8 years
-smaller in all dimensions than central
-root is similar but longer
-incisal edges more rounded
-lingual surfaces less distinctive
-cervical constrictions greater
-longer crown incisocervically than mesiodistally
Primary Maxillary Canine
-Eruption: 19 (16-22 months)
-Shedding Range: 10-12 years
-mesial slope is much longer
-mesial and distal outlines are rounded
-lingual ridge extends from cingulum to the top of the cusps → 2 fossas
-longer, sharper cusp
-crown is diamond shaped
-cingulum is well developed (more rounded)
-root is twice as long as its crown
Primary Manidbular Central Incisor
-Eruption: 8 (6-10 months)
-Shedding Range: 6-7 years
-very symmetrical
-facial view more flat
-not as constricted at the CEJ than Max Central
-lingual is smooth with prominent cingulum
-tooth is wider labiolingually
-crown looks more like primary mandibular lateral incisor
Primary Mandibular Lateral Incisor
-Eruption: 13 (10-16 months)
-Shedding Range: 7-8 years
-incisal edge slopes distally
-wider and longer crown than central
-longer roots and distal curvature
-cingulum is more developed, lingual fossa is deeper
-cingulum offset to distal like the permanent
-distal groove
Primary Mandibular Canine
-Eruption: 20 (17-23 months)
-Shedding Range: 9-12 years
- the crown resembles the max canine
-distal cusp slope is longer
-the root is longer and more narrow
-incisal edge is straight and centered over the crown
-lingual surface is smoother
Primary Maxillary First Molar
-Eruption: 16 (13-19 months for males, 14-19 months for females)
-Shedding Range: 9-11 years
-most variation/most atypical of maxillary molars
-M.D outlines more rounded
-constricted at CEJ
-2 majors cusps MB and ML
-short root trunk
-roots are thinner and more flared than permanent
-lingual root is longer and most divergent
Primary Maxillary Second Molar
-Eruption: 29 (25-33 months)
-Shedding Range: 10-12 years
-cusp of carabelli
-root trunk is short
-resembles the form of the Permanent Max First Molar
-larger than primary max first molar
-DB root is the shortest, MB may be as long as the lingual root/flared
Primary Mandibular First Molar
-Eruption: 16 (14-18 months)
-Shedding Range: 9-11 years
-tooth varies so much→ it appears strange and primitive
-mesial half of crown is much larger than the distal
-extreme concavity (rounded) on the mesial buccal and cervical 1/3
-2 roots: mesial and distal
Primary Mandibular Second Molar
-Eruption: 27 (23-31 months for males, 24-30 months for females)
-Shedding Range: 10-12 years
-most closely resembles the Permanent Mandibular 1st Molar
-3 buccal cusps are nearly equal in length, 2 lingual cusps
-2 roots
-larger than primary mandibular first molar
-oval occlusal shape
