Station Models
Official symbols for surface weather data shown on a map.
Constant Pressure Map
Maps showing the height of constant pressure as lines called isobars.
Ridges
Areas of high pressure showing upcurved isobars, usually associated with fair weather.
Troughs
Areas of low pressure showing downcurved isobars, usually associated with inclement weather.
Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)
Computer generated maps that use weather data to predict weather patterns and forecasts.
Isobars
Lines on a map that connect points of equal atmospheric pressure.
Weather Symbols
Icons representing various weather conditions like rain, snow, and wind on station models.
Air Flow
Movement of air in the atmosphere affecting weather patterns and forecasting.
Forecasting
The process of predicting future weather based on current atmospheric data.
Dew Point
The temperature at which air becomes saturated and water vapor begins to condense.
Pressure Trend
The change in atmospheric pressure over time, represented in millibars (mb).
