What is Thermoregulation?
Maintaining a stable internal body temperature, such as sweating when hot
When you’re hot what happens?
Sweating; evaporation cools the skin
Vasodilation; blood vessels near the skin widen to release heat
What happens when you are cold?
Shivering; involuntary muscle contractions generate heat
Vasoconstriction; blood vessels narrow to conserve heat
Hairs stand up to trap layer of insulating air
Transfer Pathways
The neural pathways that transmit sensory signals to control the bodies temperature
Cardiovascular Adjustments?
Vasodilation; widening blood vessels
Vasoconstriction; narrowing blood vessels
