Bill of lading
Document that details the cargo being shipped.
Commercial invoice
An itemized list of goods showing the buyer and seller details.
Certificate of origin
Document certifying the country of origin of goods.
Cargo
Goods transported by ship, truck, or aircraft.
Freight
The amount charged for the transportation of goods.
Vessel
A ship or large boat used for transporting goods.
FCL
Full Container Load, for shipping large quantities.
LCL
Less than Container Load, for shipping smaller quantities.
Demurrage
Charges applied for the delay of a container beyond the agreed-upon timeframe.
Customs clearance
The act of passing goods through customs so they can enter or leave a country.
Payment
The transfer of money in exchange for goods or services.
EXW
Ex Works; sale terms indicating that the seller makes the goods available at their premises.
Supply chain
The entire network of production, processing, and distribution of goods.
Shipper
The person or entity who sends the goods.
Consignee
The person or entity who is receiving the goods.
PSS
Peak Season Surcharge; an additional fee during high demand seasons.
Forecast
A prediction about future demand for goods.
Advance
Partial pre-payment before the full payment.
Balance
The amount of money owed after initial payments.
Inspeciton
The process of checking goods for quality and compliance.
Certificate of quality
A document confirming that goods meet stated quality standards.
