what do all plant cells start from?
maristematic cells
what is primary growth?
The length of roots and stems that happens in the first year
what is secondary growth?
The result of meristematic activity that occurs in the rest of the plants live
what are the three different types of plant tissues?
Dermal, vascular, ground
what is dermal tissue
Covers the plants organs and site for gas exchange
what is ground tissue?
Mostly for support and photosynthesis
what is vascular tissue?
Carries water and nutrients around the plant
what are the two types of dermal tissue?
epidermis and periderm
what is the epidermis
It’s like a cozy blanket around the plants, protecting their outer layers.
what is periderm
replaces the epidermis after the second year
what are the three types of ground tissue?
is like the plant’s living cells, making up most of it. Collenchyma provides support, and sclerenchyma helps support the dead, mature cells., collenchyma (supports the cells sclerenchyma(supports the dead mature cells)
meryem puts delicious grapes in vase
meristematic, permanent, dermal, ground, vascular
what is the difference between terminal bud and lateral buds?
terminal buds grow up, lateral buds, grow outward
what are the plan organs?
Leaf worth photosynthesis happens the stem how nutrients are transported the roots how the plant anchors itself and receives water and nutrients from soil in the flower, the reproduction organ of the plant
what are the components of the upper leaf?
has a waxy cuticle underneath is epidermis which are transparent to let light in
what are the components of the middle leaf?
has palisade tissue they catch light and they are packed with chloroplasts and lots of mitochondria to photosynthesis
what are the components of the lower leaf
This is where gas exchange takes place. They minimize evaporation. CO2 enters through the pores and water and oxygen leave.
what is the process of gas exchange called?
Transpiration
what is the process of photosynthesis?
Using carbon dioxide water and light to create glucose and oxygen
what are the two parts of the stem?
xylem which are hollow tubes used for water transport, phloem which are used for nutrient transport to nearby cells
what are the parts of the flower?
Stamen, which is the male organ which include the anther and the filament, pistil which is the female part which includes stigma style and ovary
