Communication

A process of sharing and conveying information from one person into another within across channels, contexts, media, and culture.

Latin word where communication comes from which means "to share" or to be in relation with.

Another word where communication comes from which means share or impart.

Communication is a process

it is continuous and constantly changing.

Communication is systematic

family is an example of a system that influences an individuals pattern of communication

Communication involves communicators not just a speaker and a listener.

-listener's facial expressions, gestures or eye contact also communicate a message to the speaker.

Communication is irreversible

It is impossible to take back what was said

Communication is Proactive.

-after receiving the information, communicators can actively evaluate the content and purpose of the message and the credibility of the speaker.

Communication is Symbolic.

every symbols convey meaning and information just as verbal communication does.

Verbal Communication

Communication involves speaking. It occurs when you speak or when you use words.

Non-Verbal Communication

refers to non-speech type of communication, any type of communication that does not include spoken word

Written Communication

refers to communicating through writing: it includes letters, e-mails, text messages, memoranda

Sender

This is the person who initiates the process

Codification

- the process of conveying ideas by converting their thoughts into symbols or observable signals such as words.

Receiver

This is the person who hears the signals and converts the symbols into their thoughts.

Decoding

the process of converting symbols into thoughts.

Message

The idea encoded by the sender

Channels

This is the medium through which the message is delivered. The medium may be oral, written, or even nonverbal.

NOISE

is anything that reduces the quality of the signal sent by the sender

Feedback

The response to the message.

Clarity

implies emphasizing on a specific message or goal at a time, rather than trying to achieve too much at once.

Confidence

It is the feeling of certainty.

Correctness to Grammar

in communication implies that there are no grammatical errors in communication.

Conciseness

Property of being exact and succint. Means communicating what you want to convey in least possible words.

Coherence

Means legally organized. It is defined as being organized in ideas.

Contact

- its means connected, there's an establishment of connection

Composure

means disposition or calmness in mind, you're well composed

Controlled Voice

Proper use of high and low voice

Credibility

One's ability to be believed. Communicator will not be perceived properly if context of the audience is entirely different from communicator.
