  • Projection: at L1, right side of vertebral column

  • Two parts:

    • Proximal part: intraperitoneal, inside the hepatoduodenal ligament → duodenal bulb 

    • Remaining part: secondary retroperitoneal, with coalescence fascia of Treitz
