What is an organization?
Group of people who work independently towards some purpose

A process designed to achieve an organization’s objectives by using its resources effectively and efficiently in a charging environment.

Finding out what to do despite uncertainty and having enormouse amout of potentially irrelevant information

Finishing tasks through other people, despite having little direct control over most of them.

The study of what people think, feel, and do in and around organizations.
What does Organizational Behavior (OB) examines?
Employees: how they behave, perceive, make decisions, and respond emotionally
Individuals: how individuals relate to each other with their teams and others
Organizations: how organizations interact with external environment
What is Kolb’s Experimental learning model?
Its a cycle where Concrete experience, leades to reflect over the experience, conceptualize the experience into hypothesis, test these hypthesis, and back to concrete experience.
What is Lewins Formula?
Its Behaviour = function of individual and environment. The manager creates the environment so employees can produce desired behaviours.
What is emotional intelligence (EQ)?
The ability to understand and manage your own emotions and emotions of others
What are the four domains of emotional intelligence?
Self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management.
What is higher emotional intelligence related to ?
Higher job performance, higher salary, leadership emergence, leadership effectiveness, more support and trusting relationships, and reduced stress and burnout.
What is Self- Awareness?
Ability to recognize and understand your moods, emotions, and drives, and how they affect others.
What is self- regulation?
Ability to control and redirect disruptive impulses and moods, and suspend judgment. Be adaptable and achievement oriented.
What is social awarness"?
Having sensitivity to the feeling, throughts, and situations of others; having organizational awarness.
Relationship Management
Effectiveness in building and leading teams; building trust and rapport; managing conflict; communicating persuasively, etc.
What are the effect of self awareness individually?
Individually, you make better decisions, more confident and creative, build stronger relationships, communicate more effectivly, get promoted faster, are less likely to cheat.
What are the effect of self awareness for leaders?
Have happier employees, and run more profitable companies.
How to build Self- Awareness is through assesments?
Self assesments like DANVA, Big five personality, Global Motivation Scale, and TKI conflict Handling Styles.
For assesments to help you build self-awarness, you will need to reflect on your results and consider what they mean to you.
What is the Johari Window?
It is a self-awarness tool, that improves communication, personal development, relationships, team development and dynamics.
What is Implicit Bias?
Is the attitude or internalized stereotypes, that unconsciously affect our perceptions, actions, and decisions.
What are elements of implicit biases?
They usually favor our “in-group” (thought not always), are persuasive: everyone has them, and can be unlearned.
What are tools for self regulation?
Emotional suppression and cognitive reappraisal.
What is emotional supression?
Blocking or ignoring emotional responses, which can be helpful in the short term (e.g. in a crisis) but can be harmful in the long run.
What is Cognitive Reappraisal?
Refraiming negative thoughts to be more positive, its thought to have better outcomes for stress (and relationships).
Ex. Failed MO, its fine, most CEOs are drop outs.
What did DANVA research showed?
Expressing and reading emotions are related, women tend to be more skilled than men at reading emotions, most skilled improve with age, personality affects skills, skills affect relationship success, and family environment affect skills.

What are the Big 5 Ocean traits?
It stands for Openess to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, and Honesty. It is a spectrum that ranges 1-5.
What is Openess to Experience?
People that are high open to try new things. Ranges from people that are more cautious and people who are “wohooo”.
What is High Openess to experience (work and on teams)?
Individual likes change, apreciate new/unusual ideas, curious, and have a good sense of aesthetics. (May pay more attention to inner feelings, enjoy surprise)
What is Low Openess to experience (work and on teams)?
Individuals are more cautious, conventional, risk-averse, less interested in change. May be more interested in the concrete and practical.
What is Conscientiousness?
Individuals with high conscientiousness have more attention to detail, likes to plan everything, and every detail. Ranges from easy going to “let me check schedule” individual.
What is High Agreeableness at Work and team?
More trusting of teammebers, helpful, good-natured, tolerant, selfless, and flexible. Less competitive.
What is Low Agreeableness at Work and team?
Less cooperative, more intolerant, more suspicious, and more self-focused. More competitive towards other individuals despite being in the same team.
What is Extroversion?
Individuals with high extroversion feel more comfortable around people, thrive through attention and are more sociable. Ranges from introvert to extrovert.
What is High Extroversion at Work and on Teams?
Individuals tend to be more outgoing, friendly, and socially active. Ususally energetic/expressive; do not mind being at the center of attention and make new friends more easily.
What is Low Extroversion at Work and on Teams?
Individuals tend to be more likely to be solitary or reserved and seek environemnt characterized by lower levels of external stimulation.
What is High Neuroticism at Work and on teams?
Experiences emotional reactions and anxiety in stressful situations, tend to experience negative emotions more frequently.
What is Low Neuroticism at Work and on teams?
Not easily upset in stressful situations, tends to be relaxed / not anxious.
What is Neuroticism?
High neuroticism is tight to anxity and paranoia. Individuals have higher highs and lower lows. Ranges from chill to highly anxious / and never satisfied.
What is Agreeableness?
High agreeableness is an individual that is patient, more willing to do what others want. Ranges from intolerant to trusting and tolerant. Opposite is highly competitive.
What is Honesty/ Humility?
High on honesty is an individual less likely to be narcissistic or machiavelic.
What is Motivation?
Force within a person that affects direction, intensity, and persistence of voluntary behavior.
What is direction in motivation?
The areas in which an individual focuses efforts to attain a goal
What is intensity in Motivation?
The amount of effort the individual allocated to the goal.
What is persistence in Motivation?
The continuation of goal-directed actions in the face of obstacles.
What are the two approached Managers do to motivate their teams? - Mcgregor
Theory X manager and Theory Y manager.
What is Theory X manager? -Mcgregor
Assumes people don’t like to work, so they must be controlled and directed (dictator). Often, coercion is necessary to get employees to complete tasks.
What is Theory Y manager? -Mcgregor
Assumes people like to work, so they can be self-directed, creative, and seek responsibility. People should be given autonomy to complete tasks.
