What is the centre of mass?
A point where all weight can be considered to act from.
How can you find the centre of mass of a symmetrical shape?
By finding 2 lines of symmetry, where they meet is the centre of mass.
How can you find the centre of mass of a non-symmetrical shape?
Make two points of suspension, hang it from a pin on a retort stand, add a plumb weight on the point of suspension, mark 2 points on this line. Join them up, repeat with second point of suspension. Where these two lines meet is the centre of mass.
