Tendinitis
inflammation of tendon
swelling and pain
crepitus → tissue sticking to other tissue (creaky door)
Treatment: rest, modified activities, consultation of Sports Med doctor and progressive overload program
Tissue Failure
placed under tension at a high velocity
Grade I Muscle Strain
SOME fibers stretched or actually torn, tenderness and pain on active ROM, movement painful but full range present
Grade II Muscle Strain
NUMBER of fibers torn, active contraction painful, depression or divot palpable, SOME swelling and discolouration
Grade III Muscle Strain
COMPLETE rupture, significant impairment with lots of pain due to nerve damage
Contusion
sudden blow to body
Hematoma → blood and lymph flowing into surrounding tissue
blood clot encapsulated by connective tissue
