Weather
The short-term atmospheric conditions in a specific area, including temperature, humidity, precipitation, and wind.
Climate
The long-term average of weather patterns in a particular region, typically observed over 30 years.
Temperature
A measure of how hot or cold something is, typically measured in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Precipitation
Any form of water, liquid or solid, that falls from the atmosphere to the ground, including rain, snow, sleet, and hail.
Temperature range
The difference between the highest and lowest temperatures recorded over a specific period.
Total precipitation
The total amount of precipitation received in a specific area over a given time period.
Total snowfall
The cumulative amount of snow that falls in a specific area over a specified time period.
Continental Climate Region
A climate characterized by significant seasonal temperature differences, with hot summers and cold winters.
Maritime Climate Region
A climate influenced by the ocean, characterized by milder temperatures and higher humidity, with less temperature variation throughout the year.
LOWERN
An acronym representing the six factors that affect climate: Latitude, Ocean currents, Wind and air masses, Elevation, Relief, and Nearness to water.
Relief Precipitation
Precipitation that occurs when moist air rises over a mountain range, cools, and condenses.
Convectional Precipitation
Precipitation that occurs when the sun heats the ground, causing air to rise, cool, and form clouds, often associated with summer thunderstorms.
Cyclonic Precipitation
Precipitation that occurs when warm and cold air masses meet, causing the warm air to rise and cool, leading to condensation and precipitation.
Climate Regions of Canada
Different climatic zones in Canada, each with unique characteristics influenced by various
