Mary Jackson was important to exploration of space.
Jackson was important because she was the first black female engineer at NASA.
At NASA Jackson studied the field of math and engineering which showed other black women they can do it too.
She was so good, before she worked at NASA she worked at Langley Research Center.
At Langley Jackson was a member of the area computing unit, a member of black women mathematics headed by Dorthy Vaughn, she co-authored her first report on behavior of air around objects in flight.
Her research still helps us today and that's why she was important to the exploration of space.
