What is the Yerkes-Dodson curve? What does it mean?
learning and performance is at its best when there is moderate stress.(Inverted U)

What is Yerkes-Dodson Law?
the levels of stress to complete a task dependent on how difficult or how easy the task is. More difficult tasks need less arousal than easier tasks to complete. Before a game, players warm-up to get really since they are familiar with the setting.

genes that are inherited from parents. hair type
what are identical twins?
twins of the same gender, when one zygote splits into 2. same gender, same gene
what are fraternal twins?
twins of different gender. two different zygotes
What is the difference between fixed and growth mindset?
fixed mindset is thinking that people are naturally born with intelligence and it can’t be changed. Growth mindset is thinking that people can increase intelligence with effort. Fixed ex: thinking that you can’t take AP bio, because you didn’t get an A in CP Bio. Growth ex: Thinking that you can take any AP class as long as you study and put in effort
What is self determination theory?
liking to be in control and achieve a lot of things. How I want to be a devoted Muslim, a respected doctor, and a masculine man
What is intrinsic motivation?
Doing something for the love of the game. Studying for the love of learning and not for the grades
What is extrinsic motivation?
Doing something for rewards.Getting a job to get money
What is internal locus of control?
Believing that you have control over your future. Starting goodt habits to better my future
What is external locus of control?
believing that external factors control your fate. luck
What is overjustification?
rewards ruin your passion for something. Doctors not liking their careers after getting paid
What is instinct theory?
actions that are specific to certain types of animals. Dogs digging holes
What is drive reduction theory?
human needs create a stress response when not met. When hungry you get shaky until you eat something
What is Arousal theory?
You like to feel stress and excited. driving fast
What is incentive theory?
motivated by things you are not in controll. Getting paid
