Albuterol

• dilate bronchioles

• asthma, dyspnea with wheezing

• contra: severe tachy, chest pain

• dose: nebulized, MDI, 2.5mg

Nitroglycerin

• dilates blood vessels

• for: chest pain

• contra: BP<90, ED meds

• side: hypotension

• dose: SL 0.4 mg

aspirin

• anti inflam, anti fever, prevent clotting

• for: chest pain

• contra: bleeding

• dose: oral, chewable 81 mg or 324 mg

glucose

• raise blood sugar

• for: hypoglycemia

• contra: dec LOC, nausea, vomiting,

• dose: oral, 15g

naloxone

• reverse respiratory depression due to Opioid overdose

• dose: IN 1mg per nostril

epinephrine

• bronchodilator, vasoconstriction, activates NS

• for anaphylactic rxn

• side: HTN, tachycardia, anxiety, restlessness

• dose: IM, 0.3 (Adult), 0.15mg (ped)

atrovent

• dries mucus secretion in airway

• for asthma, COPD

• caution in peanut allergy

• dose: nebulized, MDI, 0.5 mg

activated charcoal

• absorb toxin GI

• for most oral poisoning or OD

• not for OD of corrosive, caustics, petroleum

• dose: oral, 1-2g/kg
