Executive Function
A set of cognitive processes that includes working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility.
Working Memory
The brain's temporary workspace for holding and manipulating information needed for tasks like reasoning and learning.
Inhibitory Control
The brain's ability to manage automatic urges and distractions to behave in goal-directed ways.
Cognitive Flexibility
The brain's ability to adapt thinking and switch between different tasks or ideas.
Universal Design
The design of environments and products to be accessible to all people, regardless of age or disability.
High Incidence Disabilities
Common disabilities that include ADHD, Autism, Speech and Language Delays.
Executive Dysfunction
A condition where individuals struggle with planning, organization, and task initiation.
ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, often a disorder of executive function, particularly inhibitory control.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
A developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior, with challenges in cognitive flexibility and planning.
Assistive Technology
Devices or software designed to help individuals with disabilities perform tasks more easily.
