What are moon phases?
Moon phases describe the changing appearance of the Moon as seen from Earth, which are caused by the varying angles at which we view the Moon's illuminated surface during its orbit around Earth.
When does a New Moon occur?
A New Moon occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, making the side facing Earth completely dark and therefore invisible to us.
What characterizes a Full Moon?
A Full Moon occurs when the Earth is positioned between the Moon and the Sun, allowing the entire side of the Moon facing Earth to be fully illuminated and visible.
What is a Waxing Crescent?
A Waxing Crescent is the phase after the New Moon where a small sliver of the Moon's right side becomes visible and grows larger each night.
