Full spread adhesive

Adhesive that is spread on the underside of the material and not just on the perimeter

Glueless tile system

Vinyl tiles that are sold with the tile, a rollout underlayment with a grid pattern, adhesive tabs or spray adhesive. These are easy to lay down and pick up again.

Grade level

Position of the floor structure relative to the ground below it.

Below grade= below ground level

On grade= at ground level

Above grade= above ground level

Heat welding

Way seams between sheets of linoleum floors or vinyl sheets are sealed

Loose laid (and modified loose lay)

Installation method used to install flooring where no adhesive is used or only used in strategic places

Patching compounds

Compounds used to fill or smooth subfloor irregularities in preparation for installing a new vinyl floor

Reducer strip

Molding that finishes the space between wood or laminate flooring and other thinner flooring surfaces

Wear layer

A layer of material applied to the top surface of vinyl flooring, thickness varies, how long a vinyl floor looks new is based on the wear layers performance

Welding rods

Thin rods that are melted with a specific tool to seal the seams on sheet floors
