A boundary where plates collide.

A boundary where plates slide past each other.
Magma
Molten rock beneath Earth’s surface.
Lava
Magma once it reaches Earth’s surface.
Igneous rock
Rock that forms from cooled magma or lava.
Sedimentary rock
Rock that forms mainly through weathering, erosion, and deposition.
Metamorphic rock
Rock formed when existing rock is changed by heat and pressure.
Fossil fuels
Energy resources that form mainly in sedimentary rock due to buried plants and animals.
Erosion
The process involving the movement of sediment.
Deposition
The process where sediment settles in a new location.
Weathering
The process of breaking down rocks.
Continental climate
A climate with a large temperature range, typically not influenced by large bodies of water.
Maritime climate
A climate characterized by mild temperatures and smaller temperature ranges, often influenced by nearby oceans.
Intrusive igneous rock
Igneous rock that forms below Earth’s surface.
Extrusive igneous rock
Igneous rock that forms from lava cooling on the surface.
Granite
An example of an intrusive igneous rock that is significant to Canada's economy.
