coming from 5 senses/signals going to brain/the waves and going to the brain/ body’s senses receiving raw info from world

mind makes a meaning out of the signals/interrupting/ brain makes sense of info
selective perception
to unconsciously filter info based on own beliefs/brain decides what to see and to ignore.
optical illusion
visual perception that tricks brain into seeing something that isn’t there or misinterpreting it
sensory adaptation
when a sense organ adjusts to a constant stimulus(smell adjusts in an environment after some time)
absolute threshold
minimum level of stimulus like light sound, touch a person can detect 50% of the time. (added teaspoon to coffee couldn’t taste a thing so i added another)
difference threshold
minimum amount of change required for you to notice a difference between 2 things( started noticing chip bags have less chip)
retina
light sensitive layers of tissue located back of eye that convert light to signals

ability to see light/responsible for vision in low light condition

ability to see color

awareness of 3-dimensional and the distance between objects and me
kinesthetic sense
allows us to know position, location and movement of body parts/ where ae are in space
gestalt
brain puts things together to make a picture instead of pieces/ mind organizes things into whole /patterns
perceptual set
mental filter of how we interpret info no one has the same set everyone views things differently
selective attention
ability to choose what to pay attention to from big amount of info around us
