the wages were cut by 10% 1000 were arrested and over 100 died there were very little results the strike and violence led to a brief end to commerce mainly on the east coast

Haymarket (square) riot

protesting police brutality, 8 people died this was a setback for the movement as the government denied union recognitions it was a symbol for workers right

homestead strike

the workers were striking because their wages were cut seven workers got killed the state militia had to regain control of the area this caused Carneigie steel to have longer hours and lower wages

pullman strike

the wages were cut and longer hours were caused, Pullman refused to listen, 30 people died and 80 million dollars worth of damages, Cleveland sent federal troops in Chicago to enforce the ruling to stop the strike. 

Lawrence textile strike

 the pay went down and 2 workers died, the owners offered a 5% raise but the workers rejected it resulted in driving out the textile industry from new england
